Menon Institute of Legal Advocacy Training (Milat)

The reform brought about in Indian legal education through the pioneering work of Professor N.R. Madhava Menon over the past three decades as part of the five-year integrated B.A.LL.B. programme as part of the National Law School experience is the inspiration for Lloyd Law College to sponsor the moot court competition on his behalf. After retiring from active duty, he continues to contribute to legal education and professional development through the Menon Institute of Legal Advocacy Training (MILAT), which he directs. Lloyd Law College is proud to be associated with MILAT in organizing the advocacy event for law students in the Asian region. Menon Institute of Legal Advocacy Training (MILAT) is a registered non-profit and non-profit education company based in Kerala that operates in Delhi-NCR. It was founded by students and supporters of Professor Menon. MILAT`s activities include legal education, civic education, training and placement of young law graduates from disadvantaged strata of society, research on social justice issues and dissemination of legal information. The Institute, in cooperation with the Bar Council of India, State Bar Councils and various law schools across the country, organizes professional development programmes on legal education and legal representation for law professors and lawyers who serve as knowledge partners in such initiatives. Training programmes and workshops on advocacy, legal education and research have created a cadre of well-trained lawyers, lawyers, law professors and researchers in India. Professor N.R. Madhava Menon was the first president of MILAT.

Prof. (Dr.) S. Sivakumar, former member of the Law Commission of India/Senior Professor of the Indian Institute of Law, is the current Honorary Chairman of MILAT.
